Two Presidents convened

Two Presidents convened on this date, reportedly to negotiate, the end of the war and Ukraine's fate.. Instead the President of the United States, and his very arrogant running mate, chose to publicly bully and intimidate, cause that's how we "make America great." President Zelensky didn't take their bait. He's a man of character, a Presidential trait, and Ukraine's still a democracy. It's not the "deep state".

I agree with you, Nancy. It was a very negative approach that they took with Ukraine's President. I would have thought they would have used a more moderate approach. The negotiations failed. I hope next time they use a good negotiator, and his/her approach works because the people of Ukraine need for the war to stop. Sara K

Perhaps this is the way negotiations happen. Yes, each side must show some muscle. Hoping for peace and return of the stolen children and families. Why do things never change. In the last 4 years we have seen things turn back to the dark ages. Mankind never learns. Congrats on POTD!

It was an unexpected and wonderful surprise to find that my poem made POTW. I am most appreciative to all for their wonderful comments and deeply humbled considering how many talented poets we have. My only wish is that this President and his Administration would have a change of heart and shift their loyalty to our allies, not our enemies..

Wow, this is a pleasant surprise and I am most appreciative to all.. I, like so many others on the PS are horrified and feeling helpless with only the beginning of this Trump White House and how it is alienating our allies through out the world. Please pray for Ukraine and the future of this country..

How did I miss reading this??? I’m happy to see it as potw, Nancy. I cringed when I saw it and was ashamed that something so abhorrent took place in the Oval Office. We shake our heads at bullies in schools and in poetry soup but that’s penny ante when it’s disgustingly done by so called leaders of the US. Kudos to Zelensky for keeping his cool when not being allowed a word in his defense. How many times does thank you have to be said? Trump wants his toes kissed?

hey nancy! well said! i just posted my poem on the same topic. i am horrified, furious, sad and ashamed of our country. i just wonder if all the people who voted for him are cheering or, hopefully, at least a few, are regretting their decision.

it's hard to know where other peoples heads are but I would hope that recent events would be awake of call for many. Trump also referred to the "deep state" and now we are living in one he has created shockingly.

Hi Tom, Staged humiliation for President Zelensky. What was Vance who has never even been to Ukraine weighing in on things for? What's that expression, "we are going to hell in a handbag" here. Well written. Another loss for the U.S. I find myself writing more political poetry lately to calm myself. I need to release some of my negative emotions without losing my integrity. Every day, there is a fresh wound to our country. It's a nightmare that never seems to end. I think reading and writing these poems helps me cope. Thanks. Jan
