Two Bad Things

Two bad things occurred today, Despite the sunny sky. While sitting on my favorite bench, A skeevy rat ran by. It shook me up so I went home And when I got the mail, A jury summons told me I must serve or go to jail. Now which is worse? I wonder. Both of them made me upset. When living in Manhattan, That’s the luck you sometimes get.

I got my notice two months ago, but my age rescued me from my civic duty. / Maurice

Hmm. Going directly to the second bad thing: In Chicago, age 70 and over is exempt from jury duty. How 'bout Manhattan?!
