Twilight Tanka

Tangerine sunset
sinks below the horizon.
Willow tree whispers
welcoming blue velvet sky,
cloaking us with diamond light.

jan, in many ways the numerical placement of this tanka belies how lovely it really is (there was very little to choose between the winners); it was certainly the most beautiful entry i received, i enjoyed the imagery and the alliteration, and you know your strength lies in these short forms - congrats on your win in my contest :)

I've done several poems using this sort of imagery Tim I love the idea of a tangerine sunset it seems so apt when I see the sky some evenings:-) I also love it when the sky is delicate shades of lilac and pink too - we are having some stunning sunsets at the moment:-) hugs Jan
