Twenty Years From Now:

In twenty years time, I'll be seventy, An elderly man who is young at heart, Dreaming dreams avoiding reality, With every day I shall make a new start. Seeing the beauty at every new turn, Hearing the sounds of music as I go, Like the stars above I shall always burn, Seeking out love, that one day I will know. Being seventy shall not bother me, For in my heart I will remain sixteen, It is just a matter of living free, And with my poetry keep my mind keen. Until the day I pass over thy hill, For I have the power of my own will.

Myself I too feel young as long as I avoid reflective surfaces. Great poem, congrats!

By the time you are 70, hopefully your dreams will be your reality. I am now 72 and everyone knows that 70 is the new 50. And poetry knows no age, only emotion and wisdom. John

Hello White Wolf. This is most touching with great meaning. Your thoughts and words are beautifully executed in this Sonnet. I believe you met the contest requirement. However contest or no contest this entry stands on its own. Good luck with the contest. Well done in its entirety.

Really nice my friend, a great way to see it. Age is just a way to track day on earth, like a time card at work...it has no bearing on who we are or how we act, because we will always be us, no matter how many day pass.

Yes, many moons ago there would have been no such thing as birthdays, just seasons, or maybe not even that! We really should celebrate every day of life but who could afford the hangover! Haha /|\

Not many words can claim to be a palindrome like poop! It's very underrated indeed my friend! Haha. To speak truthfully, They can take me away tomorrow and I won't mind! I've had a good life thus far! A rocky one, but a damn good ride! Man, am I a silly old fart! I just typed all this out in the comment box! Haha. It's late, well, that's my excuse! /|\ Thanks, Jan
