Twenty Years Ago

Twenty years ago, at midnight,
A new century came to birth.
Been through infancy and puberty,
Passing times, for what they're worth.
Tonight it leaves its teen age years
The roaring twenties will arrive
The U.S.A., in adultery,
Is a place, we can't survive
Washington has led the way
As time went 'round the dial
They have cheated, “We the People”,
By seldom reaching 'cross the aisle
Our founding fathers, in their graves,
Are turning, don't you see ?
To bring back life and liberty,
Up to the people, you and me.
We are our own masters,
Only if we choose to be,
Washington, when left alone,
Will give us what we see.
Our country's more than Washington
Neither party does it right.
There will be no resolution,
'Til “We the People” join the fight.
Let the roaring, of the twenties,
Be our voices, loud and clear,
Let the Constitution guide us
In this new and coming year.
I got up early this morning and wrote this short ode to the coming decade. If you believe there is some truth to it, please spread it through any means you have available. Washington contains our representatives, not our rulers.
