Twenty-Ten
I’ve reached the age where happiness
Is dealt out in small measure,
Where waking with no aches or pains
Is on rare morns a pleasure.
A joy to me of this year was
I had no big crises of health.
I had enough to pay my keep,
No major worries over wealth.
I had no tragic loss this year
As happened in the year before.
All my loved ones are doing well.
A great-grandma can't ask for more.
Another year in my own home,
Surrounded by the things I love.
My old car still chugs along
And very seldom needs a shove.
I found my name in the top ten
Often enough to bring a glow
And the confidence to try again.
These contests make the black ink flow.
I’ve had a year of great content.
I leave the highs for younger folk,
As long as I have eyes to see
And ears to hear a well told joke.
