“Procrastination is a lazy man’s apology.” quote by Chinua Achebe
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘Twas the night before New Year’s when all through my house
nary a dish had been washed; I felt like such a louse.
“What’s wrong with you, dear?” queried my spouse.
“Not a poem have you written;
no longer with Poetry Soup are you smitten.”
“My muse is frozen in time,” I replied. “Her creativity’s been frostbitten.”
“You must understand. Without her, my world is quite topsy-turvy.”
Then for New Year’s I did firmly declare, “I vow to wake up early,
to no longer procrastinate, and to engage my muse who’s been quite surly.”
But alas! On New Year’s Day, I hit the snooze button.
Now I’d have to answer to my editor, Sir Edward Dutton.
He ‘Zoomed’ me inquiring, “Why no poems from you have I gotten!”
“I don’t rightly know what to say.
Seems my muse has gone astray.
Keeping my New Year’s resolutions and writing poems I’ll do another day.”
