Listen to poem:
Spoiled with attention Love and devotion Lucky little grand-daughter Adored by her grand-mother It was the end of summer days School sale signs throughout the maze I spotted a braided turquoise belt Seemed pretty and different was how I felt I didn’t want it or need it but To my surprise my grand-mother offered to buy it I gave in to that capricious inkling inside Knowing full well she hadn’t much money set aside Mauve was her dearest color most divine I knew turquoise forever would be mine AP: Honorable Mention 2021, Honorable Mention 2020 Submitted on October 13, 2017 for contest AN OCTOBER STANDARD sponsored by BRIAN STRAND

Grandmothers are the best invention ever. Full of unconditional love. This poem reminds us of their giving ways.
