Turning Fifty

Turning fifty was a watershed. I reassessed my life. I was no longer content to remain a dutiful wife. I saw the years ahead of me Stretch in an unhappy line. What would I do without those beautiful girls of mine? The party was a blast. Memories made to last. Still I knew that night my marriage was fading fast. And so it came to be. In the end we did agree to go our separate ways. My daughters stayed with me. We only pass this way but once. Each day a precious gift. Turning fifty made me realise I must make that enormous shift.

A poem written straight from your beautiful heart Jean . It's not an easy decision to end a relationship especially when you have children but you my friend are flying high, spreading your wings and moving on:-) Keep a smile on that beautiful face:-) hugs Jan xx

Your lovely comment certainly has me smiling Jan. Because you have supported my poetry efforts right from the start, I feel you are like my midwife, helping me through all that trauma, to get to this happy place. Thank you. Hugs.

Hi Cecelia. Thank you for choosing my poem. You said you were after real emotion. I have found putting my emotions on paper for Poeterysoup so therapeutic. I feel another watershed now after seven years... to give up the ghost of Xmas past and concentrate on the future.

That decision took me to hell and back Agnes. Thankfully I strapped myself in for that bumpy ride.

Life at 50 sometimes gets easier, but than age creeps up on us and everything starts to shrivel away for others.. Nicely written ~*

I didn't know you before but I see so much laughter in you and it is very becoming.

I love to laugh and always have Tim. When my laughter left me I knew I was in trouble.

I can relate Jean. My first marriage lasted twelve years and we went our separate ways which was a mutual decision. I found true happiness with my second husband I've been married to for thirty five years. You are still young Jean and I hope you find true happiness as well. I enjoyed your bio poem. Blessings, Connie

Well it won't be for the want of trying Connie. I wonder would one of those websites where you can buy a bride accept me?
