mid afternoon
the in-between time

it's quiet and i can think
i can write or i can read
i can indulge in silence
bathe in soft background music
revel in the luxury
of quietude, of solitude

breathe in the essence of my own thoughts
get lost in the peacefulness
in the hazy feeling of not belonging
of feeling disconnected
of, for a while, being an outsider
and feeling free

So resonant, esp. for a retired gent like me... I can take a deep breath and just inhale what you've written! Only one problem: All this reveling in solitude can interfere with my daily afternoon nap! :) gw
