Trees trying to find the King to rule over them

??Judges 9:8-15 KJVAAE??
[8] The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us. [9] But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? [10] And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, and reign over us. [11] But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? [12] Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us. [13] And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? [14] Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us. [15] And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

Thanks for sharing this bible verse. To serve is to leave yourself behind. The right King is Jesus but oft man wants another to rule over them.

Amen, mankind just can't get out of the way, for they love self praise and glory of man, when it's of God , none shall boast but seek to die daily to old self that this new creation of the Living God shall reign within, Jesus the servant will come to lowest among us to breathe in this Holy Spirit, that another One might walk this earth in Love and humility as did he : )

Stephan, l am not sure of the interpretation of this biblical verse. I feel that the humble will be exalted at the end. Compared to olive and fig, bramble is very inferior, a thorny plant. Still.... in the eyes of God it has a rare value. Congratulations dear friend on your POTD.

Dear Stephan, breaking down verses means you need to always stay in context with what's happening at that period of time. The ' trees ' represent the people of Israel, especially the leaders. This was basically God's judgment on Abimelech and the people of Shechem for the cruelty and disregard for God and God's judge Jerubbaal. Later this pronouncement of judgment was fulfilled. Congratulations my dear friend, on Poem of the Day. Many wonderful blessings to you. Hugs, Brandy

Dear Stephen, Congrats for POTD! Your poem beautifully captures the timeless allegory of power and leadership depicted in Judges 9:8-15. The imagery of trees seeking a king echoes our human quest for authority, often blinded by false promises. You state it well that it is important to scrutinize our leaders and their intentions. Your work sparks introspection and provokes thought. - Blessings my friend, Daniel
