Trees Talking
There they are again
same people
yup
same car
kids are gettin’ bigger
cuter too
they’ll stop for dinner
same place
you bet
and buy a pumpkin
some apples
for a pie
they’ll roll in the leaves
laughing
love their laughter
throw color into the air
and shout
zoom around
then spin
till dizzy
fall
into the huge pile of crispness
then watch the sun set
they’re leaving
the kids will fall asleep
before night falls
the car lights disappear
until next fall
say your prayers
goodnight
till spring
