Each new morning I must, must view my trees, I love when their branches dance and sway in the breeze; and how they adapt to season changes with ease. In October they do a golden leafy striptease; November and squirrels scamper on a branchy trapeze, Winter brings the dreaded long deep freeze_ and they look dead with some unknown disease. Oh, I wish they would put on their green gowns, please; then, one morn' I wake to a leafy dance like in my memories. _________________________ October 05, 2022 Poetry/Monorhyme/Tree Memories Copyright Protected, ID 10-1492-446-05 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Premiere contest, Single Stanza Monorhyme sponsor, L MILTON HANKINS, Judged 10/06/2022 Sixth Place

Lovely poem Constance... I too am a lover of trees and plants. You have described the pain of seeing the trees stripped off their leaves in winter and the pleasure of seeing them in their leafy gown in spring. Congratulations on your great win.

I think we all love our trees (even those who don’t realise it until someone cuts one down). Directly opposite our drive was a massive old oak. It was leant over by winds of its youth and completely dead on one side but full of life on the other. Last weekend they cut it down. Really miss it. Smashing write, Constance. Congrats. Terry

Terry, thank you so much for the comment, compliment and congrats, appreciate, I know exactly what you mean, we had some beautiful ancient Maples, but they had a disease and were cut down, I felt like weeping, Constance
