I wrote this poem in 2007 and published it in a book titled Left Wing Limericks.

The beast must have rest—it's a horse If not your quest's over—of course These trips had required Getting tired and mired Cars from this hard work—us divorce

Andrea, that's kind. I'll likely intersperse limericks like this going forward...can't be obsessed with you know what....just focused from time to time.

Not my view but someone told me we humans have a nerve to ride horses and not let them roam free, again not my view but made me ponder. Loved the poem.

Arthur, we're not surprised we used them for all sorts of purposes, including warfare. IMO we should use great care using animals since I believe they have thoughts and feelings. I suppose it's not terrible provided we treat them really well. As you say, there is a lot to ponder. We'd hope we treat each other well also.

Well, Duke, you had me grinning and so true, sometimes the “beast” just needs a break! Love how you turn a simple road trip into a playful adventure, and honestly, who hasn’t wanted to ditch the car after a long haul? By the way, I just saw Lin's note below and do you have a book out now? Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Thanks Daniel. I had published a trio of books back in 2007 and 2008. That was a while back. The first was a pamphlet and the second and third were soft covers. I was glad I did it since it was before AI and proves that I am really human (lol). We do often need a break indeed. Hope you are well and smiles. If you soup mail me your address, I have copies of the pamphlet and will send you one.

Duke, your Limerick poem is just excellent. We all have aches and pains from driving or riding. A full day of relaxation is required if I am to drive for more than one day. The first electric airplane touched down today, and it was a remarkable sight to see the rapid evolution of transportation. Smiles

SP, thanks...yes I saw that an electric airplane flew into JFK. Those aircraft are getting certified and will be much more common in the future. Hope you are well and managing your transportation without too much difficulty. Smiles!!

Plenty of horsepower on display here Duke, one way or another without a good rest, be it from driving or riding, we all end up with a sore ass, transportation is indeed rough on the coccyx, excellent Limerick, cheers David

Thanks David. I think you make a valid point. Sitting while traveling for more than an hour or two at a time does tend to lead to an ache down there. BTW, you're very kind and thoughtful. Sending you smiles!!

Thanks Anaya....I don't think it's readily available any more. I had used an organization called "cafe press" and only went for a few hundred copies. The nice thing at that time is that they were automated and would produce as few or as many copies as I wanted. Even one copy at a time if that were desired. That worked well for creating drafts. I did also print some small pamphlets at first since that was a very inexpensive option. Smiles!

I just realized, Duke. It's like human vs. AI. I'll take the 4-legged creature who will run his heart out for you until he drops, as opposed to a car that will stop dead with a dirty spark plug. Thanks for sharing and I hope you'll post more from your book... published poet... kudos!

Lin, that's an interesting comparison. I'm having fun looking back on some things written around 2007 or so. It seems like yesterday. Funny that most cars run on fossil fuel while horses fuel on crops. They probably didn't add to the greenhouse effect. Maybe we should call it the greed-house effect. BTW, smiles!!!
