Touched By a Young Poet
I read three poems by a young poet named Bias Oswell
He recently came to Poetry Soup, I could tell,
He wrote of years being in the foster care system
When, apparently, he felt life had dismissed him.
He felt unwanted and lonely and sometimes forgotten
The hand life dealt him early on was, I think, rotten.
While I read his poems, I felt a tear coming to my eye
I do not know this young man, but felt I should try
To do something making him feel accepted, wanted here
So, I wrote comments to him out of my heart sincere
Then, wrote a poem hopefully to lift him, as well
And, I hope everyone will read “Write on, Bias Oswell!”
