Tornado
You reach down
from a Darkened sky
and rake your long, twisting,
nail across the earth.
Wiping away homes
as the ones inside whimper
and cry out to their Gods.
You rumble through small towns
and remove lives of those you
choose. No thought for the broken
lives you leave in the rubble Of
your storm. Your Violent whirl
of wind choosing who will die
and who will be left alone
to pick up the broken pieces of life.
Sometimes quickly Lifting
for seconds and leaving a few
survivors to recall your wrath.
You strike the cities where
they believe they are safely
Cocooned in their glass
and Steel towers. You bring
them to their knees; weeping as
their towers fall. Leaving a city
devastated by death and destruction.
Winds spiraling, Lightening zig zagging,
Your Funnel of Destruction wiping away
Lives and then suddenly turning and
Lifting your long nail Back into the dark sky.
Leaving survivors to wonder. Why?
Why did you leave me here with nothing?
To weep alone as I try to go on and Be
Thankful that this time I survived
The wrath of the tornado!
