Took My New Harley For a Morning Spin

Took My New Harley For A Morning Spin I found a treasure chest without a key It was full of hope, ocean and blue sea A few gems, some golden coins sprinkled in Much other loot my head began to spin. Map inside showing cave full with gold crowns Just over paradise, miles west of town Rose early to wander out get that loot Put on my gear and my old hiking boots. Found hidden cave and sauntered on in There lay skeletons of seven dead men Appears it 'twas a robber's getaway I took the whole load that fortunate day. I woke with the bright sun shining right in Took my new Harley for a morning spin Might as well as it was but a big dream Well, I have lottery ticket to dream. Robert J. Lindley, 18 verse Sonnet March Note. Written on March 9TH, 1973, I was 19 years and 4 days old then.

Thank you, my dear friend. Yep, that motorcycle was loads of fun to ride. So much fun I had only the motorcycle for about five months that summer. Even delayed my buying a new car! With winter approaching I rushed out to buy a new car. God bless..

Ah, a five decade old poem resurrected! Too late in the day for me to attempt such pursuits. Amazing that you have your old poems archived from an era when there were no computers.

Thank you my friend. I just found these in the attack in my older brother's house. I lived with him for almost a year back then. A lucky break for me! God bless.

Oh, Robert, what a truly captivating verse! It exudes a delightful charm, brimming with vivid imagery. In my youthful days, I too indulged in the exhilaration of astride a Harley motorcycle. Alas, with the passage of time, my weary bones now dissuade any inclination towards such daring pursuits. Nevertheless, I raise my glass in admiration of your enduring spirit and unwavering determination. This, my dear friend, is indeed a commendable poem.

AHH, so you know about motorcycles and the freedom they give the rider. Yes, our youth how we so oft wish for it yet again. God bless.

- Wish I was 19 years old ... riding my new Harley for a morning ride ... and experience many exciting adventures ... young and free with the wind in my hair -You were only 19 ... already a very accomplished poet, Robert ... wish I had my "old poems of youth" ... but they are long gone ... - hugs
