Too Soon Gone

The air drips over the lake yet to be thundered awake. Mirages waver. Bare feet on black asphalt quake Keepers on sand tractors rake. That's summer's flavor. Swimsuit wearers all partake of young beauties and beef cake as love is a savior. Dip the babies toes, savor the lake's cool icy laver, hear her giggles rise. See the lover's sink braver and the old ones disfavor soon to end July. Scorched red by Sun's engraver. Father's garden hose wavers. Soon, summer good bye's. August crisps the field's allies. Summer's guests leave compromised. The lifeguard's gone. It's too hot for much but sighs. The town theater's cool as ice, from the heat in drawn. Watch the actor's prance in guise Fall with have it's own surprise, Too soon, summer's gone.

Love summer but not when it is to hot. This body is more used to cold than heat. I have been very busy with traveling to babysit my one grandson 3 days a week and home 4. Seems hard to get things done. On holidays this week so heading to BC to visit my brother and family. Had the kids home for the weekend and they just headed back home. Are old poems permitted in your contest. Debs? I have one that I'd like to enter. (not the one I am talking about below here)

Hey, I have an old poem with a very similar title, well completely differently done, but same theme. This is wonderful to see, Debs. And a good inspiration for your contest which I am finding a challenge to do for you. HOpefully I will pump one out. But I don't know! Luv, Andrea

Hahahaha!!!! So enjoyed this. Yuppers. Summer flies, especially here in Canuck land! I am loving teaching my girl about the seasons. Though she just turned 3, she is aware that there are 4, each with their individual pleasures. My favourite time of year is September. I LOVE the month- light sweaters, warm days, crisp nights, shopping for pencils. The dusks still linger, but the humidity has disappeared...still July has its charms, yes? Like sharing gelato with tiny spoons, movies in the park...

Come to think of it, I once enjoyed 'free' Shakespear in the park, here in Waterloo... they collected donations in a hat after the production. The actors were fabulous. And seeing Midsummer Night's Dream in a natural setting was awesome. We have lots of free festivals here- Jazz, blues, Scottish, Multicultural (tomorrow!) and Busker ... all free...
