Too Quick Burn The Fireflies
foreshadow night as darkside, grays, clouds of gills;
my bill douse the glow just before —
half collapsing storm; and light from sky brushes
on wings quick; too quick burn the fireflies,
these flashes are burrowing channels
to a girl whose memories are webbed to grass,
flickers now gone through my eyes;
still absent fireflies churn inside,
melt within rain like on mittens; I hold some
to a dry part of my skin's outstretched sea;
thundershakes still serene; unseen but seeing,
too quick burn the fireflies
