Dizain
A dizain is a type of poem that follows a prescribed format of syllables per line while adhering to a certain rhyme scheme. A dizain should be comprised of a single 10-line stanza which includes 10 syllables in every line and is written in accordance with this rhyme scheme: ababbccdcd.
I'm scared of how the future may unfold,
everything's changing; many are alone.
I don't want to believe all I've been told,
but fueled by the news, my fears have grown.
I rely upon my TV and phone
to keep me safe and informed with the truth.
And yet, schools pose a danger to our youth,
because some kids can't or won't wear a mask.
And large parties still attract the uncouth,
as if saving lives is too much to ask.
