Too Far Gone

How sad when things are too far gone - when pleasures once you knew are things no more to smile upon. This plight for some is all too true. Some souls are captive to their vice. How sad when things are too far gone and simple comforts don’t suffice. To evil some become a pawn! Some bearing pain become withdrawn: for pain of body or the soul. How sad when things are too far gone, and nothing fills the gaping hole. Some lose their home or livelihood. Some live enslaved. There is no dawn that shines for them with brotherhood. How sad when things are too far gone. July 18, 2022 for Pick-A-Title, Vol 31 Poetry Contest Title #1: Too Far Gone Sponsor: Edward Ibeh

I missed seeing this poem as POTD. When things are too far gone, they are beyond redemption. There is much wisdom and a caution of warning in your beautiful poem, Andrea !

Unfortunately, your last stanza describes many. I truly have compassion for the homeless who have become that way due to unfortunate circumstances from being jobless because of the pandemic. This is such an excellent entry and I am happy to see it honored with POTD Andrea. Congratulations! Blessings xxoo

Feels too far gone when depression comes along, ain’t that the truth, you capture the hopelessness of no future, only blackness and resignation to one’s fate quite starkly, congratulations Andrea on a well deserving POTD, cheers David

"Some souls are captive to their vice, and simple comforts don’t suffice." So sad in many ways. I can't imagine this. It is too far gone for many, but not everyone. Your thoughts touch my heart so deeply. I wish to place this in my favorites. Congratulations Andrea, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Congratulations on POTD! Serious ennui. Reminiscent of Thomas Mann's poem "Is That All There Is." Superably executed! Robert

Congratulations on POTD Andrea! Too far gone, but life goes on. We can hope for more solutions. There is one thing, if only we can rid our minds of the ~NOT IN MY BACKYARD~ and help them instead, it would be a great start! Help our leaders help us! Hugs ~Anaya
