Tomorrows That Never Were

Sad is the tomorrows that never were Of a love long ago that seemed so pure To reach in the realm of what could have been And wish with the silence those days again When two hearts were broken from what's unknown That stained our minds to entomb us alone To picture caustic days timeless and old When the beauty of love grew tired and cold Warmly passionate with truest desires To turn and leave such a sadness requires That washes away with shadowed regrets Sandcastles we built, memory begets 4/25/20 contest Couplets-Any Theme-Any Length sponsor-Dear Heart

I wonder how in a marriage, long term, one could keep the passion ignited? Physical and internal. Surely this takes 'great' love, the strongest kind of love and understanding of each other, to keep the dream alive, inmates of love in such close quarters. Beautiful poem Parker. xx
