Today's Mask -To Gail
the love you know you earned
is in the space bewtween the sudden moon
the careless branch
and the knotted sky.
to chase the discovey of it
is worth a thousand sorrows
its promise like the wave of god's hand
over an emerald desert.
we are a millesecond away
a lost turning shadow hidden
from radiance
stumbling with lantern low
in mile after mile of gold mine
face pressed hard on vein
the journey leads only to one
sight-
a caught slant of glass
the reflection of another
and in her eyes all the light
beneath today's mask.
