To the First Adam
Hello Adam, tell me,
Is that your first name or your last?
I'm Eve and that's my only name
And I don't have a past.
I had no mama to teach me
I must obey the rules.
I've searched this garden for a bit.
I find no obedience schools.
God put me in charge of feeding you.
Why must I waste this fruit?
The snake told me it is luscious
And for sure our taste to suit.
Come on Adam, just for me,
Please try a little bite.
A little taste will tell you
If the snake and I are right.
You know we have no friends here
And we don't need enemies.
So when he urged I take a bite,
I did it just to please.
I don't think God will notice
One little apple gone.
He may suspect a dinosaur
Grabbed it to chew upon.
But now you say God's angry?
And He won't let us stay?
He's repossessing Eden
And sending us away?
Well, you know it's your fault, Adam.
You should have fenced that tree.
If you hadn't been so lazy
We'd be living fair and free.
I'm telling you right now, Adam,
I'm not going any where
Until you get me some new clothes.
I've not a thing to wear.
