To Take a Life Is Not the Way
Why must there always be conflict
To harm both man and beast?
With consequences most tragic
They killed the strong, the weak.
They took the mandate ‘twas given
From horror did they drink
Into darkness they were driven
To send all to the brink.
You think yours is a holy cause
To keep your way alive
This madness must be put to rest
So that all can survive.
There is room in this world for each
To live life differently
Peace and love, not out of reach
Just let all mankind be.
Fear must not drive us from our home
Afraid to venture out
We must feel strong, feel free to roam
To live, to move about.
As minds are bent, and thoughts are turned
With children killed, and homes are burned
Voices rise up, and rise up strong
Say “Love is right, and hate is wrong;
Kill not your neighbor, not today,
To take a life is not the way”!
