Notes About The Poem

A quick 3 min poem I wrote for my son..

I woke up to his message today "I'm sorry I haven't been a very good son lately" and it broke my heart that he had a sleepless night, thinking he is not very good. So I wrote this and sent it to him and for the first time he said " wow i love it" to a poem I've written hah!

To my beloved Sun

O beloved Sun, that gently warms my soul,  
with soft strings of saffron and golden shine,  
I write this poem with symphonic stardust,  
when euphonious memories soar above  
clusters of sapphire butterflies,  
when rainbows reflect a glow of nostalgia.  
Allow the inked verses within  
these maternal veins~  
remind you to close your sleepless eyes,
and listen to your evergreen heart.  
Fear not the unknown that veils your vibrancy;  
there’s a song that lingers amidst tuneless skies,  
with every note inscribed with your dulcet name,  
for I pray for you in sanguine silence…  

You will always be the lyrical light  
guiding me to the reveries of redolent lilies.  
You are the poetic reason,
I breathe phrases of hope,
when the orchid moon melts into orchards of nothingness…

   Love always and evermore,
        mother….

Ink Empress! No surprise I rank you so high in this contest out of 45 entries! Sorry it took so long to judge. Long story short my laptop would not and still does not accept the poetrysoup login screen. I'm doing this all on my phone just to get it judged. Regardless this piece touches my soul and brought feelings of my own son forth. Fantastic work!

Ahhh Dear Empress, What a great and wonderful mom that must have just made his day knowing how much you love and care about him. Perhaps more importantly, you have noticed him and all that he does and that is reflective of your character. It truly brought a tear to my eye. Your love flows like an ocean with wonderful word choice, and all your poetic tools sharpened and skilled! I love this entire poem but especially these lines “ You will always be the lyrical light guiding me to the reveries of redolent lilies. You are the poetic reason, I breathe phrases of hope, when the orchid moon melts into orchards of nothingness…” What a lucky son to have you as mom and what a lucky mom to have such a sweet son as to inspire such a loving poem! Sweet Empress, this is incredibly sweet, moving and transformative. Which son will not be touched by these warm words, pouring out from his mother's heart! A mother's love is unconditional and her heart beats for her child. This poem will leave an indelible mark on your son's heart, I can assure. Such a vast vocabulary you have to write a poem of such a stature in only three minutes... As always great use of metaphors and light alliteration like 'sangria silence" and a very metaphorical verse in "orchid moon melts into orchards of nothingness." You sound like an amazing mother who care so deep from the heart for your son, just like my mum does for me... He is lucky to have you as a mum, one who sacrifices everything for his happiness and I hope he will always be your lyrical light.
