for Edward Ibeh contest, "Pick A Title, Vol. 51. To Fly
To be like a bird and fly and fly
To touch the edge of the azure sky
to fly together, to swoop and soar
To visit the clouds forever more.
To dance with the wind, a pirouette
bask midst a gold and crimson sunset
Fly over mountains crested with snow
Finding wonder-filled places to go
Fly over meadows blazing with bloom
To ruffle wildflowers' sweet perfume
To fly on its back to rainbow's end
Then fly with rain, a welcoming friend
To fly with wonder at each new place
To fly high hoping to see God's face
To age gracefully, as it has grown
Then tell tales of places it has flown
Of magic lands, where Bird had a key
To open secrets just birds can see
With a final breath, Bird seeks the sky
where now its spirit will fly and fly
