To Be Honest:

To be honest with you all
I am but a hack, a fraud
I contain no heart nor soul
And my mind a blunted sword.

Having moments to reflect
I now know this to be true
Searching deep within myself
For what else can a man do?

I gaze into the unknown
Into chaos and darkness
My head spinning in pain
How much left is to confess?

With paper and pen, I write
All my thoughts down as I go
This well now empty and dry
What is left for you to know?

Doug Vinson Date: 5/2/2017 7:30:00 PM If we give up certain things about ourselves, what is left? Sometimes, the answer is depressingly slight. Budgie, crows are not much different from ravens, if anything crows tend to group together in large numbers more. Towards the end of winter, in the American midwest (perhaps among other places) I've seen crows gather by the thousands in sycamore trees along the Ohio River. Maybe it's by the tens of thousands, for the din is impressive. It's still too cold for most other birds to be singing, and the crows' cawing blends together in a semi-raucous scream, a bit unearthly, like a massive alien choir in the quiet hours as night becomes morning. The first time I heard it it was scary - so loud and unknown - something really bad had to be going on. Now it's just their parliament or whatever passes for a party.
