'tis the Night of All Souls
'Tis the night of All Souls, to some the undead
Who stagger around causing folk dread.
Rotting corpses slither down the street
Trailing behind the stench of dead meat.
Ghosts and spectres drift on the breeze
Trying to make folk ill at ease.
Children dress in costumes outrageously garish
Trying to make themselves look nightmarish.
Knocking on doors in the dark of the night
Giving those who answer a terrible fright.
Goblins and ghouls and pumpkins galore
All come together at some poor souls door.
They may look scary and make you jump
Looking so horrid they make your heart thump.
But for all that it is, frightening and gory
Halloween is but an annual story.
Played out at night by the children
Both the young and the old.
Next time they come screaming down your street
Just admire their efforts and give them a treat.
For The Everything Halloween contest.
