'tis Not Immortal

Give thanks for a red rose 'Twill inevitably decompose Give thanks for a sunset That vanishes at night's onset Give thanks for the sun's rays Which may last a whole day Give thanks for gentle rains That refresh meadows and plains Give thanks for majestic mountains And bubbling springs' fountains For winding rivers, for fresh streams Which flow nightly in dreams Nature's beauty must needs fade; 'tis not immortal ~ But not this plain simple poem, preserved on a portal

i like to think change is a 'permanent' (eternal)...otherwise a heaven would be boring
