Tired of the Fighting Heart
There is a cold rumbling in my heart
On and on I feel this mid chest unease
Upcoming days tests and MRIs clucking sounds
I sense breath and if the worse happens
What then, doesn’t it come to all of us
Sometime the eyes darken and the blood
No longer flows I have seen those cold
Whites of the eyes so still
I have felt the unmoving heart
An ungrieving brain cooling
It comes to everyone — every being
But every creature fights back
And hearts rumble in the light
I am tired of arguments and
Uneven talks with no place to go
And with the cold departing heart
