Time lost is actually time stolen
He was barely an adult when he was entered into the system
He was an educated law abiding citizen
But due to the fact he was black
It was sympathy they lacked
He faxed a lifetime of imprisonment
And an impending death penalty
All because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time
His only crime
Was being a black guy
The system had hardened an innocent black boy
Stewing in an injustice
He suffered
Because of his skin colour
He remembered the jury's eyes
They didn't need to hear his side
When he walked in they already had made up their mind
They saw him as the 'perfect' suspect
Not caring that he was the real victim
So he wasn't surprised when he heard the verdict
The jury spat 'he is guilty'
He had dreams
And just like that they were dead
Just like he wanted to be instead
Now he resides in solitary confinement
Where he was surrounded by all the ghosts
Future lives
Killed by racist white guys
This is where his story ends
A black man forever trapped in the system
They made his voice irrelevant
Now he roams through the prison walls
Hoping someone hears his calls
He had no family, no legacy
He never got to have children
This is a thought that would forever haunt him
Trapped in the same cycle for all eternity
