Time Lost
I stand here in defeat.
Looking for a place to hide.
Into the darkness I retreat,
hoping the pain will subside.
It has happened before,
though once was enough.
Another unwanted detour,
on a road, bumpy and rough.
How a life can go awry,
with only one wrong move.
Time is lost, slipping by,
while waiting to improve.
My life, on hold for now,
as I strive to regain.
Whatever it will allow,
my strength to reclaim.
That moment, as I fall,
is as if in slow motion.
A feeling that I recall,
always with emotion.
Positive thinking, am looking to find.
as I face the lengthy task at hand.
Reminding myself of both body and mind,
Coming together, to understand.
