Time In the Wind
Morning arose as any other
Speech of the cardinal and his significant other
Wet dew on the grass
Shimmering mirrors of glass
From his perch he sang as though he knew my name
Crimson and bold
And I am so old, as I am lame
Though I walked this path for so many years
This morning was different I bid him cheers
I could feel the change
The sun and how it was rearranged
Yes summer has gone and moved away
Retired to bring fall our way
I gathered my basket and tucked in to stay
I picked ripe red tomatoes and zucchini and herbs
A little dried sunflower for the birds
Those lovely green peppers and eggplant to
Harvesting the goods of my labor
The fresh tastes of summer, I savored their flavor
A pluck of a pesky weed or two
Before you knew it the morning flew
In for lunch and a sit on my rock chair
I drew the blinds
And closed my mind
And let life end in the breeze
The next morning came ,she ceased
