Time In the Wind
Morning arose as any other Speech of the cardinal and his significant other Wet dew on the grass Shimmering mirrors of glass From his perch he sang as though he knew my name Crimson and bold And I am so old, as I am lame Though I walked this path for so many years This morning was different I bid him cheers I could feel the change The sun and how it was rearranged Yes summer has gone and moved away Retired to bring fall our way I gathered my basket and tucked in to stay I picked ripe red tomatoes and zucchini and herbs A little dried sunflower for the birds Those lovely green peppers and eggplant to Harvesting the goods of my labor The fresh tastes of summer, I savored their flavor A pluck of a pesky weed or two Before you knew it the morning flew In for lunch and a sit on my rock chair I drew the blinds And closed my mind And let life end in the breeze The next morning came ,she ceased
