Thoughts On a Cold March Evening

Outside the frigid air blows in from the East Inside I flip on my radio and hear a monologue Tomorrow a snowstorm will arrive Feeling tired, I lay down on my bed Before drifting off to sleep, however I pick up a pen and paper write down some thoughts for a cold night My father's gone these 7 and 1 /2 years No more sweet music on the Steinway in the living room Tomorrow I head back to the fabled Lower East Side Hope there is someone on my side up there in the heavens I need spiritual strength to see me thorough the nest day Icy cold thought it may be I dare to raise my small personal flag In the face of eternity

Beautiful poetry lives in your poignant words, Matthew. I am touched by your honest reflection about these universal feelings...you are definitely not alone. Hugs, Rhonda

what memories, matt. Sorry your father passed so early. I am so thankful both my parents are still alive.

Although we sometimes we feel abandoned and alone in reality we never are for the spirit of our departed make certain to keep us company! Well expressed emotions dear, Matthew!

Well done Matthew. I think pretty well most of us feel as you do. We are basically alone in this world to make the best of it in the face of adversity. We have a job to do and we do it to the best of our ability whether appreciated or not. Our lot in life is to pick up our cross daily and follow Him. We do so with a glad heart as a service unto the Lord and at the end of the road He will say Well done My good and faithful servant. God Bless and a big 7 from me. JB
