Though the Eyes of a Snowman

On a cold winters night I fall from the sky Drifting down in snow flake style Asleep in their beds With wondering thoughts About building me I see bright eyes Looking though glass Excitement building Each minute Running with coats and hats Slamming the door Laughing and giggling With coal, a carrot and top hat All in hand They roll me up like cookie dough First my bottom Big and fat Then my medium tummy My head is always last Little hands reaching high Placing my head In place With two coal eyes I can now see their happy face The carrot nose Now placed I can smell Christmas Dinner cooking All dressed for all to see I am ready for Christmas Day As night falls All back into bed Warm and snuggled With kisses good night I stand Watch for Santa Waiting to guild him in I see up in the sky his sleigh With Rudolph leading the way As quick a lighting he is gone Delivering to the next home This night seems warmer then others I am starting to melt away I can barely see The Christmas tee inside The last thing I see Are the children opening gifts Large smiles and happy faces With gleams in their eyes But all I have left Are wet coal on dry ground A black hat that covers My carrot nose Yet next week They can build me again The weather says Three feet Of fresh Snow I will forever live As long as it snows
