This World Looked Away - Written When Clinton Was President
While more than one million Rowandan lives were taken,
Each precious mortal life a victim to massive genocide.
Slashed into pieces and some left to die in horrible agony,
While U.N. turned its back and a President stood silent.
Bill was heard to say there wasn't anything of worth there,
No oil, no diamond mines, there was no reason to go there.
Still knowing that only 5,000 troops could have stopped it,
He just looked other way and took comfort in his mistress.
10 years later hundreds of parentless villages stood,
Full of little children being raised by older siblings.
Robbed a decade earlier of their childhoods and Moms and Dads,
Human lives torn asunder by uncaring greedy governments.
This is the truth that most in this world will not face,
Because if they did would have to face their responsibility.
While now they worry about terrorists coming to harm them,
Thinking they are better than that million who died then.
More than a million humans slashed to death and beheaded,
Was that not the epitome of what terrorism really is?
And now millions cower behind another greedy President,
Hoping his lust for power will keep them alive and well.
