This Woeful Girl's Prayer

Oh, hear this woeful girl's prayer,
    such a deep sorrow sigh;
will this heart ever stop hurting,
  to Heaven these tears fly.

For here, I sit forlorn and lost,
    within this box of grief;
and fear another dawn and day,
  which brings impending fate.

Oh, I am stained with the blood,
    of love long, long departed;
I am never free from their voices,
  which call from their tombs.

Among scattered stones are names,
    my broken heart recalls;
forever in my soul etched deep,
  and on a slender thread I am kept,
    ( . . .  tethered to this eternal grief)

But, within my soul freedom stirs,
    with strength to break away!
Oh, can I throw off this awful grief?
  Lord, can you hear this girl's prayer . . .

A very moving piece and so very relatable to my own feelings of late. I'm glad your soul stirs with the strength to break free because I've been wondering if grief is something we can choose to let go of or if we just have to wait for it to release us. Thanks for sharing.

Sometimes it doesn't hurt to put yourself 1st Look after no 1 if no 1 else will. Life is full of woe and people who only care about themselves especially in relationship's. Grief is the best form of relief

WoW! Sensational poem, Dear Heart. Beautiful tapestry of phrases replete in this soulful write ... Among scattered stones are names, my broken heart recalls; forever in my soul etched deep, and on a slender thread I am kept, ( . . . tethered to this eternal grief) I felt the love in this superb poem. Love waves w/smiles and smiles of joy.

That’s one reason that eternity must exist. No other reason for us to hurt so bad. <3 Kim
