This Poem

This poem doesn’t want to get written. It’s fighting with all that it’s got. Apostrophes, commas, Their daddies and mamas Are joining to give it a shot. I’m dragging each word that’s resisting And plunking it down on the page. So every letter I’ve forced, with a fetter, To take its place up on the stage. This poem didn’t want to get written. Its protests were lusty and loud But the pencil I wield Made hostilities yield For the poet’s compulsion’s unbowed.

It's seems there is no end to your wonderful imagination. I enjoyed this very much and know what you mean. I put them aside and try something else till the words come to me but sometimes it just doesn't work. Very well written and easy to relate to!!..................pat

Normally, you make it look so easy. So it only stands to reason that you would have to word for it once in a while. :)

ha! it's interesting that you say that, robert. my poems do sometimes just flow out of me, but lately i find myself struggling with many of them. your constant support is very gratifying and i thank you for it...

I know exactly what you means in this work, Ilene. My solution is simple: I put it aside and return to it later. Sometimes that works, other times it doesn't, in which case I trash it and forget it. / M
