This Is the Day
My tenderness resides in the eastern skies,
where the wheat grass grows in emerald field-
where hope can be found in a medallion sunrise,
and when all transgressions seem to yield.
For this is the day that I have been healed.
At times I'm a tender doe lost in the barren wood,
craving the warmth of a mother for alleviation-
but I'm definitely grateful for where I've stood,
it's brought me a comfortable sensation.
For this is the day I've overcome tribulation.
I must seek not the ways that man ignore,
yet walk a path of righteousness and glory-
I must say I could not love my life more,
and am thankful for all those before me.
For this is the day I tell you my story.
It is one of faith and compelling love,
a tale told to you out of wisdom and insight-
I have found freedom in an ivory turtle dove,
and have taken the darkness from the light.
For this is the day I finally found my sight.
