This is a representation of every Grandmother, all races, time periods possible from the 1800's to as late as 1980's, think about it reread the words. Think about it is it really revelnet to day.???

Do twenty and thirty or even forty year olds make homemade jams and breads;

Do grandma's today have a soft, loving but strern voice and still forever pray?

Does anyone make real clothing by hand, not the Walmart George or Nike brands!!

and polyester is a solid gasoline, but in the seventies you couldn't tell'em they weren't cool or clean;

and what's Black N White TV the first and true original shades of black;

the ground dark gray the skies light gray, the people even different tones of gray leaving the skies white...

TV where there was no reds for fire;

TV where blacks, (then colored) were different shades of blacks/grays

We were almost all equal then;

A man would hold a door open for a woman then? ? ?

Patchwork quilt made by hand

Mostly every household had a working husband;

A place where mother tended the children and grandma stay extended vacations at your house;

You could have gotten a spanking from your parents, and grandma twice;

If your not 50 to 60 and alive and over seventy;

then these words don't mean nothing to you;

This is of my Grandmother

Homemade jams and breads; NO body eats at Grandma's table anymore; Soft warm communications; Real clothing made by hand; No polyester blends; A gentle voice yet stern reproach; a Second time, no third choice; a hug goodbye a spanking and a "don't you cry" THIS IS OF MY GRANDMOTHER Black N White TV, doesn't mean racial equality; Violent sprees, fighting not all to be; Here at hand filtered sown quilt; No biscuit and gravy left to eat; Read a book touched, felt, smelled the pages; Granma still sings "rock of ages"; Real clothing made by hand; NO polyester blends; THIS IS OF MY GRANDMOTHER 09/27/14 Written by James Edward Lee Sr. ©2014, 2015, 2018 from anthology Celebrate: A collection of writings about Women University of Nebraska @ Omaha 2015©
