This Happy Memory
Spotted the moon out the window
and couldn't get outside quick enough.
I had always loved the moon's glow.
I used to think if I just huff
it would follow me in a bluff;
memories when I was a child.
The stars have always in a wild
way kind of fascinated me.
From that first look I blushed and smiled
in a dream I foresaw to see.
My first look through a telescope
to see the bright moon I'd been hooked.
Not as bright as to dull my hope
on etching of stars as I looked
through drifting clouds I'd overlooked.
I use to lay in the cool dew
wet grass in the yard, singing through
silence. I would spend my evening
gazing up twilight sky that drew
me to love the night air of spring.
The moon always swooned as it balled
when it hung in full dress. Its light
would bathe the leaves as it lusted
making them like fairies in flight.
I pretended through fading night,
magic blended in the shadows,
unicorns gleaned the green meadows.
A child's vision of memories
wiping away pain as wind flows.
There is strength within victories.
