written for the Ekphrasis contest on favorite album cover sponsored by Dilly Dally, I chose " fractured fairytales" by Blackbriar...

trapped in skeletal arms of the wolverine forest, I crave rose-scents from the corpse crescent, seeing through the portal of pained pupils, written with cinder-gold between lethal lines of nostalgic nightfall, about sunsets woven in angst, from stone-cold tears s u p p r e s s e d within crawling clouds before onyx rain… and must I scribble sonnets of sorrow and hurt~ while aching to kiss the poisoned lips of midnight? for in your quivering verses of unrequited stars, I taste lavender in tender musings, I feel the liquid warmth of 4 a.m. thoughts, I hear the flow of forsaken dreams amidst this sky-cradled prison, caging my silenced skin from breathing beyond twigs of thorns, suffocating me with inked love and unbreakable longing, the moon still knows I cannot live if I were to rise every dawn without the mellifluous m u s i c of twin flames caressing the cashmere air in soulful resonance, as if there is no escape from destined darkness, when love is a feathered fern in the weary wilderness, painting a panorama of fractured fairytales from fervent fingertips of how, once upon a spring luna, we built an amethyst-dusted home and called it "l i f e" whilst karma crippled the claws of time, and still, your name I wear… perhaps, one day, I will be more than a chained bride to misery and loneliness married to ghosts of willows and oaks crowned with cues of confusion draped in mellow memories~ like a tree-mannequin awaiting the truth of twilight, forever yours...

I’ve just checked out the Album cover fractured fairytales as I wasn’t familiar with it, and you certainly nailed the imagery, my favourite line (whilst karma crippled the claws of time, and still your name I wear) love the subtle wordplay between crippled and still, congratulations Ink on your most deserving top placement in Dilly’s contest, A fave for me, cheers David

Isn’t technology fab , I can tap on the title cover and listen to the song, I love metal bands with female leads, such a beautiful song, Empress and the art of a beautiful dryad’s lifeforce bound to the tree. You definitely stepped into her dark fairytale where there lies beauty in darkness. Romantic but also awful that heartbreaking tragedy ever after. They are now on my playlist. “I feel the liquid warmth of 4 am thoughts amid this sky-cradled prison” powerpoetry!

"I will be more than a chained bride to misery and loneliness married to ghosts of willows and oaks crowned with cues of confusion draped in mellow memories~ like a tree-mannequin awaiting the truth of twilight, forever yours..." Every poem of yours breathes fire like that of the mythical dragon who guards the treasure. You are guarding the treasure of memories of love. Every line ignites the flames of pain in one's heart. Lost love leaves an echo that reverberates ever and again. It has left deep aches in you....haunting you even in your midnight hours. The longing for that past lingers like a flame that once burned so bright illuming your entire mental landscape, but now it leaves deep burns alone in your heart. Still you seem to enjoy that burning and avows, you are ever his ! Simply breathtaking!

IE, I looked up the album and saw the cover art. Your poem marvelously describes the scene as you imagine it. I love how you ask questions that describe what you must feel and endure. You do this so well and it is a characteristic I've commented on before. Really lovely to read. It makes me think of how difficult it is to have the kind of life we dream of as there are so many reasons and situations that make it difficult. Smiles to you!!!

There is no such pain as that of a broken heart from love.. It is remarkable you go from writing romantic poems to poems about broken hearts and grief... Shows what a talented poetess you are.. I hope one day you can be more than a chained bride to misery and loneliness married to ghosts.. I think marrying someone alive might be helpful there.. It must get to you when people do not understand your poetry? As always full of metaphor and poetic techniques, which can be interpreted differently by abstract minds and eyes... Sending you healing...

This is one of the best poems you've ever inked with rose water tears, "written with cinder gold between lethal lines of nostalgic nightfall...", your longing for love is extremely beautiful, incredibly immersed indefatigable desire. The love pain is so rich and uniquely expressed. This poem really touches my heart Poetess...Justin A FAV!!!

Gosh. It must be a gorgeous album cover by how you described it. It feels like you also were breathing the soul of its songs into your poem. The part in italics seems like it could be lyrics from the music? Why don't you put the picture to go with it? I never hear of this album or singer(band?)

This elegantly composed poem delves into topics of love, desire, and the anguish of unfulfilled affections, as well as the beauty of memories and the weight of isolation. It looks into the subtleties of emotional entrapment, the desire for connection, and the dual nature of love, which feels nourishing and stifling, dear Ink. Using a combination of sensory facts and intellectual notions. Words like "skeletal," "wolverine," "cinder-gold," and "poisoned lips" evoke vivid images while simultaneously conveying danger and decay.

My gosh! This is undoubtedly one of my most favourite pieces written by you, my dear Ink!! You absolutely blew my mind away with so many profound phrases here and your meticulously crafted metaphors which stirred my soul with their evocative depths... How ingenious your wordsmithery is and how artistically your mind works in poetic dimensions! I can't help but be marvelled at these lines "trapped in skeletal arms of the wolverine forest", "I hear the flow of forsaken dreams amidst this sky-cradled prison", "once upon a spring luna, we built an amethyst-dusted home and called it "l i f e", "and still, your name I wear…" Wow!! This is one of the best interpretations of any prompt that I've read so far, you actually captured the true essence of the image and infused vulnerable emotions within your carefully knitted sky of poetry... the personification here and the use of adjectives, everything is surreal... and I could feel and imagine every lil bit...

A wonderful poem emitting rose scents and flowing fluently all through its length. Particularly appreciated: "trapped in the skeletal arms of the wolverine forest, I crave rose-scents from the corpse crescent, seeing through the portal of pained pupils,.........", so replete with imagery and alliterations. Wish you best luck in the contest.

"and still your name I wear..." Nothing worse than being trapped in a loveless relationship, living like a mannequin who can no longer feel anything. I've been there, but no more. Exquisite poetry
