Thief

I awoke this morning, a cavity in my chest My heart was stolen, It was not a slow theft, as all the others, It was immediate and painless, I did not fear my missing heart, Nor the one who stole such a thing from me, Bright blue eyes, and a smile, I feel as though the thief may linger, Looking to steal my lips, my mind, and my name, My heart, it still beats in the empty space, Though now I feel laughter, I feel peace, This thief of mine, does not seem to realize, That within his hands, he holds the fragments of me, Every heartbreak, every beat, Now within his grasp, Though even without knowing such things, My heart is cared for, and his touch is gentle, I do not care for my stolen heart, For I do not need such a thing to love, The thief, may take it all, or leave it, For my heart will beat always outside my own chest

Very engaging. I like how defiant the tone is. Interesting content on how the heart still is cared for. Great job.
