These Woods Along the Shore
I was forsaken by the one I love the most,
as I walk into the woods like a lonely ghost.
Fear cripples my spine and I am left afraid,
damage from the farewell we portrayed.
Oh- I wish, my beloved, you would’ve stayed.
So, I tarry and carry this boulder on my shoulder.
Do you think of me…”I just wanna hold her”....
Am I wondering these river shores just to forget
our tears of salt; the shame, blame and regret.
But, my sweet man, I shall always be in your debt.
For we married under these tall ivory elms,
the memories just flood, it severely overwhelms.
I knew not then that we’d part in the same place
where we vowed eternity just us - face to face.
Now in these woods I just miss your embrace.
So here I am again, the third time this week.
I’m anxiously awaiting to see if you’ll peek
around our elms to hold me like we did before-
For you, my sweetheart, I shall always adore.
What more is in store...
walking into these woods along the shore.
