These Dreams
Dreams don’t occur very often
When they materialize they are deep and terrifying
I can't stop these delusions
They just happen
Trying to forget
Hoping they will eventually fade away
Or that's what I keep telling myself
Running down the alley
An unknown man in black is chasing me
He wants me dead
Bullets are flying past me
Jumping into a building I start climbing the stairs
Hearing his footsteps behind me
Adrenaline pumps through my veins
I keep running
Not knowing where to go
There is nowhere to hide
Running across the roof tops
The man is still behind me
He lifts a sawed-off shotgun
BOOM
A shot is fired
I fall down screaming in pain
Hit mid thigh I struggle to move
He continues to walk towards me
Trying to crawl away
One hand over the other
Everything is blurry
Slowly I move but the pain intensifies
The enigma of a man grabs my shoulder
Forcefully flipping me over
I see the gun between my eyes
He pulls the trigger
Terrified I wake up sweating
Screaming in terror
These nightmares are so real
When I wake up the images leave
Out of my reach
Out of my control
But not out of mind
I try to fall asleep again
Hoping never to recover that nightmare
Remaining in the lighter parts of my dreamscape
Ensuring the darkness does not return
My mind is too scared to go back
It is too much to handle
