There's No Place Like Home

I live in a beautiful state, but my heart will always be in Iowa. The quote, from the famous 1822 song "Home! Sweet Home!" was used in other modern songs and also in the movie: "The Wizard of Oz" (Dorothy was a midwestern gal like me!)
A rainbow arcs the ridges underneath a cobalt Utah sky. I watch it as I drive. Russet clustered trees tinge mountains’ sides. Though autumn's lovely here, I’d rather view that arc in sky of summer blue above green fields of corn.

Your use of colour JUST ROCKS HERE! Russet is so unappreciated! Tinging mountains, great image. I have never written an Etheree. You juicy poem makes me want to try. AND I think this should do VERY well in Walayee's contest. Monkey girl has strep throat! Whatta weekend! Clinic today. Her 1st dose of antibiotics. Oh, just freaking wonderful. However, she's such a trooper. Poor little thing. Temp got to 103 last night. Doc was helpful today. Anyway, thanks for all the :) sent my way one for you:)

I like how you inverted this form. not only does it look like a tornado, referring again back to the wizard of oz, but i like how the rainbow/sky imagery is on top of everything down to the corn. i also like how you use the colors/imagery to express what the quote means to you. it all works so well together! and i agree, there's no place like home. good luck in the contest :)

Both places sound absolutely beautiful - gorgeous poem, Andrea. I think I was around 16 when I had that date. I was awfully shy of girls!
