There Are Some Things You Can'T Forget

There are some things you can't forget! They say, he's an old man now... you've got to, get over what he's done... What good ... would prison do? If you forgive him, then you've won... I know, that it ain't easy... the scar's still show... wound's still fresh... maybe you can forgive, but Chorus There are some things you can't forget(oh no) There are some things you can't forget There are some things you can't forget(oh no) There are some things you can't forget They will tell you that.... time will heal everything... but, what about... the pain that mem'ries bring? Just keep moving forward, don't look back... throw away the past, don't... let it cling... Bridge 1 Old cliche's will tell you, life is what you make it! (but) What can you make, when the innocence is gone? maybe you can forgive, (but) Chorus There are some things you can't forget(oh no) There are some things you can't forget There are some things you can't forget(oh no) There are some things you can't forget You may ask... If there's a God, how could this happen to me? I've been a believer, right from the very start... He's not to blame, for all the evil that men do... but, he'll help you to heal, your troubled heart Bridge 2 Old cliche's will tell you, life is what you make it What can you make, once the damage has been done? maybe you can forgive, but Chorus There are some things you can't forget(oh no) There are some things you can't forget There are some things you can't forget(oh no) There are some things you can't forget Chorus repeat fade to zero John Derek Hamilton August 26,2017

Powerful lyrics with a great message. The unseen consequences of learning to live with the past while moving forward to a place of love and healing is wonderfully conveyed in your poignant, thoughtful words. This is an important, beautiful song John. It is a pleasure to read you:)

Hi John, These are some moving lyrics. They could be the anthem of my life. Forgiving a person that has abused you takes courage and strength. I believe such courage and strength can only come from God. When I forgave my abuser they no longer had control over my life. One will never forget but as long it is not painful remembering it's ok. But one must get healed to feel this way. I'm sorry I can go on and on about these lyrics because I related to them very much. Excellent job- Alexis

Thanks Alexis, this was written because ones who are close to me have experienced abuse and the effects linger, even after many years. It's true when you forgive you let go of the pain, and it helps you heal, then the memories hurt less and less. Sorry for your experience, but at least compassion for others comes easier after these experiences. Take care and thanks for commenting!

Someday a CCM chart-toppper, ha! You must have music playing when you write these - I wonder if it's similar to what I hear - I bet it IS! Love it, Bud!
