Then and Now
Then was the time
When life of contentment enveloped
The expanse of the serene sky
Where the flight was friendly without fear
As life flew like a free bird far and near.
When delight was found in the present
Relationships held hands all the way unreserved
Strangers mingled with smile of no pretence
Kept the dormant egos unexpressed.
When life had the simplistic fluidity
Flowing like the fragrant spring breeze
Over the contented landscape of being
Touched the ebullient edges of the fulfilling essence.
When your tolerance showered empathy
On my blazing mental framework
You encased me within the petals of memory
When I was gone from your garden of roses.
When I could look through my transparent life
See happiness bloom in the core of my soul
As the flower of flawless bliss
Adorning the bouquet of togetherness.
Now is the time
When life is desolately disjointed
Things that matter don’t any more relate
Journey is to meet the uncertain horizon
Life is the name of living fear of the unknown.
When loneliness takes the mind from today to tomorrow
Relationships unhold hands even in sorrow
In life the solo actors make their own stage
Play the role till they reach the edge of isolation.
When the impeded flow of time is verily viscous
Sliding in the manipulated tortuous course
Crushing at the fringe of impatient life
Buried in the debris of splintered dreams.
When compassion morphs into mirage
In the desolate desert of the parched life
When I’m gone you instantly erase
My fading face from your contrived canvas.
When I can’t look through my opaque life
Can’t find the happiness sunk in the mire of misery
Where my soul is a snapped thread
In the worn out tapestry of human disharmony.
